Film Education Council - CP3 Conference 2005
As a result of I Am The Mighty Jungulator's PAYP 1 GCP (generative community portraits) programme 2004/5 (see article), The Film Education Council invited us to present this work at their CP3 conference (Critical Practice, Creative Process, Cultural Perspective), held at Sussex University in July 2005.
The aim of the conference was to examine the broad relationship between critical practice and creative process in relation to the use of digitial video in UK education. Delegates included teachers and advisory teachers from Film & media Studies, English, Art and ICT, plus education professionals from the further and informal sectors.
IATMJ delivered two 2 hour workshops entitled 'non-narrative' & "music', demonstrating methods and technologies used to produce generative community portraits. These were super-condensed versions of the 2-3 day portraits produced with young people.
here's some positive feedback from workshop participants -
"Very entertaining, inspiring and good fun!"
"A new perspective on the possible."
"A pleasant surprise. Interesting and thought provoking."
"Amazing! I loved this!"
"Some good ideas here… particularly like the debate about computer generated creativity/innovation."

Cinema and screen arts publisher Wallflower Press produced a publication on the conference, ensuring that the debate continues and evolves after the event.
